Brand History
Immediately following its opening in Tokyo’s chic Omote-Sando district in 1999 as a boutique selling original items using vintage fabrics
and reworked secondhand clothing, Crystal Ball became a favorite with Japanese models and athletes, which soon led to a much more
widespread popularity. In addition to collaborations with numerous international artists, designers and companies including Jeremy
Scott, Shakira, ChicKs on Speed, and Tokyo Disney Sea, Crystal Ball takes inspiration from a wide variety of sources in order to create
artistic and creative pieces. All textile designs for both bags and apparel are originals designed exclusively by or for Crystal Ball, and all
products are made in Japan with the highest quality of materials. From the onset, the idea was never to create just a fashion or
handbag brand, but rather to incorporate a mixture of several fields, including music, sports and culture. This philosophy is manifested
in the spinoff project Groovin’High, a music- and travel-themed website that includes video blogs by and interviews with renowned
international creators, including musician Kay Nakayama, art design collective tomato and DJ Ken Ishii.
